My thoughts, my life, my desires...

I hate when the presses always pick on something small and make a big deal out of it. They never report if a public school teacher gets arrested off campus or do something off hours. Yet they do with KSD teachers and staff...this is something that happened off campus, AND the fact is that the police didn't find any proof of evidence on the Feb 17 charges....they did collect but find no semen, no force, etc.

KSD worker placed on leave after Lincoln rape charges

STANFORD - A maintenance man at Kentucky School for the Deaf was ordered off campus Wednesday after school officials learned he was out on bond from the Lincoln County Regional Jail on charges of first-degree rape.
Michael W. Hume, of Holtzclaw Lane, Hustonville, was arrested Feb. 17 by the Lincoln County sheriff's department after a woman told police Hume had forced her to engage in intercourse while she was under the influence of a disabling medication.
"There was (medical) evidence collected from both him and her," arresting deputy Ron Luster said.
Bond was set at $5,000 payable at 10 percent, which Hume posted.
While KSD Chief Operating Officer Larry Conner declined to say whether Hume had been at work this week, he did say Wednesday shortly after learning of the arrest that "Mr. Hume has been removed from campus."
Hume is now on administrative leave, Conner said. "Even with allegations, individuals are placed on administrative leave until the case is dealt with in court."
While a mandatory background check was performed on Hume during his hiring in 1987, Conner said the school had not been notified of Hume's recent arrest.
"Only if the incident happens involving an employee in Boyle County, I'm notified ... But there's no requirement that they notify me, no," Conner said of law enforcement officers.
Though it is possible Hume came in contact with students on campus during the week, Conner said students were absolutely, completely safe during that time and now.
"Our kids are always under the watchful eye of an adult," Conner said. "We have house parents that are with our kids from the evening until they get up in the morning."
Hume also faces charges of menacing and fourth-degree assault stemming from a Jan. 4 incident in Lincoln County where a woman claims he punched her and tried to run over her with his truck during a dispute.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges. Hume will next appear in Lincoln district court 2 p.m. Monday for a preliminary hearing.Copyright The Advocate-Messenger 2005
