Dear Eddie and Sandy:
I went to cemetary and put flowers on grave. It was
hard to leave. My meeting with Director of Foreign
Missions went well. He hired me. I will begin
raising our support Oct. 1st. Dorothy will go with
me; she will have an option to come home within first
6 months if she doesn't like it there. The contract
is for 4 years. After 2 years we will come home for
two months. Then after 4 years we will get 6 month at
home. I will need to go to Evansville, IN for
physical next month and we will need to go to
Springfield, Il to have pictures made.
We will live in a nice house in Davao City with air
conditioning.WOW. The school year will begin June
1st, 2005. We must arrive in the PI by May 1st.
We need to visit at least 75 to 80 churches over next
7 months. The fund raising program uses shares for
$10.00 each month over 4 yrs. We will need 325
shares.
I will talk to you later. Love, Leeland

WHAT IS AUTISM?
Opportunities for volunteer services --->
Autism is a complex brain disorder that often inhibits a person's ability to communicate, respond to surroundings, or form relationships with others. First identified more than 50 years ago, autism is typically diagnosed by the age of two or three. Autism affects people of all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Few disorders are as devastating to a child and his or her family. While some people with autism are mildly affected, most people with the condition will require lifelong supervision and care and have significant language impairments. Many children with autism will never be able to tell their parents they love them.
Currently, the causes of autism are unknown and there are no specific medical treatments or cure. Physicians have no blood test or diagnostic scan that can definitively diagnose the disorder. As such, the diagnosis of autism is based solely upon observations of behavior. Despite increasing national interest and high prevalence, autism research is one of the lowest funded areas of medical research by both public and private sources.
Basic DefinitionAutism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) encompass a group of neuropsychiatric disorders characterized by deficits in social interaction and communication, and unusual and repetitive behavior. Some, but not all, people with autism are non-verbal. The degree of autism varies from mild to severe in different individuals. Severely afflicted patients can appear profoundly retarded. The cause (or causes) of autism are not yet understood. However, it is widely believed within the scientific community that there is a strong genetic component or pre-disposition to autism spectrum disorders. Researchers have proposed that the immunological, metabolic, and environmental factors may also play a part in the etiology of autism. Autism is not caused, however, by emotional trauma, as was once theorized. Autism or autistic-like behavior may co-occur with many other neurological conditions. The optimal treatment of autism involves an educational program that is suited to the child's developmental level.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
What is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)?
Polycystic ovary syndrome is a hormone imbalance that interferes with normal ovulation. Women with PCOS do not have normal, regular menstrual cycles. This hormonal imbalance also affects other body systems, such as the metabolic and cardiovascular systems.
Most women with PCOS will have numerous small cysts (less than the size of a pea) on their ovaries at some time. However, some women with PCOS do not have polycystic ovaries but have other symptoms of the syndrome.
What causes PCOS?
The cause of PCOS is not fully understood, but genetics may be a factor. You have an increased risk of PCOS if you have a family history of PCOS. If you have the syndrome, your sisters and daughters have a 50% chance of developing PCOS. You may also have an increased risk of PCOS if you have a family history of type 2 diabetes.1
What are the symptoms of PCOS?
Because there is such a wide range of symptoms, PCOS is defined as a syndrome, not a disease. The most common symptoms of PCOS are irregular menstrual cycles; acne; weight problems, such as weight gain or upper body obesity; and abnormal hair growth. Many women also experience infertility or pregnancy loss. The ovaries often become enlarged and may contain one or more abnormal cysts (see an illustration of the female reproductive organs). Enlarged ovaries may be detected on a pelvic exam or by a transvaginal ultrasound.
Many symptoms of PCOS occur either early in the condition or develop gradually. Women with PCOS may have insulin resistance and have an increased risk for diabetes.

Sandy and Robert
One of my good friends, Sandy...wrote about me in her blog....i liked what she said.. and she is the same to me. She gave me infromation about PCOS, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and helped me research on that new diease i found that I had. She was there for me all through that. How amazing is that when we met at the JrNad convention, without any intention of keeping a lifelong friendship... and instead, becoming good pals helping each other in need and being there for each other. :) Thanks Sandy!
